Mission Statement

The Harvard Performing Arts Scholarship Fund, Inc. financially supports students who choose to pursue educational opportunities in the performing arts.  Our scholarships will support graduating seniors who will continue on to college programs in Musical Theater, Acting, Dance, Voice, Theater Tech, Film Arts and Writing for Theater, Film and Television.

Fostering a lifelong love of drama, dance, and performance should begin long before a student starts thinking about college.   We feel younger students should be given the tools necessary to explore their performative instincts.  Outside Bromfield’s own theater program, local organizations that provide individual instruction in the performing arts are very expensive.  We want to support these programs, too, and the students who will benefit from them most. Our funds are to be used for three purposes:

• a scholarship for a graduating Harvard high school senior who is attending a BA or BFA program for the performing or filmarts;
• support for local performance-based organizations and;
• direct support to deserving youth pursuing the training to prepare for a career in the performance arts.

The Harvard Performing Arts Scholarship Fund (HPASF) will award a designated number of scholarships to eligible high school seniors based on a review of all applicant submissions.  Applicants must be high school seniors residing in Harvard or students at the Bromfield School.  Each recipient must matriculate as a full-time student in an institution of higher learning by September of the calendar year in which the scholarship is awarded.  In the event a recipient fails to enroll by September, the award will be forfeited.  HPASF must receive confirmation of matriculation from each recipient’s guidance department. HPASF reserves the right not to award the full number of available scholarships.  Results for the Board of Director’s decisions will be posted on the Harvard General Store website, and winners will be notified in writing.  Winners will be recognized during the senior awards ceremony of their respective high schools.
